Wheel Building Class

March 19, 2011 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Who wants to build some wheels?

We are going to offer a class in the theory and construction of fantastic bicycle wheels. It will be split up into a series of 2 classes:

Dates – March 19th from 9am to 11:30am and March 20th 9am to 3pm.
If this works, please read on!

1. Theory and Lacing
We will teach you how the wheel is built and why. The theories of lacing patterns, rim and hub materials and spoke fallacies. We will then measure the hub and rim to get the proper spoke length for the lacing pattern that is appropriate for your wheel. Spokes will be cut. And lastly, we’ll walk you through the process of lacing up your new wheel.

2. The Build and Finish
The next class will teach you to take your floppy collection of metal pieces and build it into a straight, round and robust machine. You will have access to the best tools in the industry to make a wheel that will withstand virtually anything you can put it through on a bicycle.

If these dates won’t work, we need to hear from you. What days of the week work best for you. What times? What kind of wheels do you want to build? Do you want us to include some take home tools in the price of the class? (Spoke wrenches, etc)

Let us know what you think and we will announce more dates and availability soon.
