What a great riding season we had for 2010!

We would like to thank you. And you. And you.
Between you recommending us to your friends and you giving us your feedback on products and new lines, we have to say thank you for your help. We have some of the best lines of bikes, with some of the best lines of clothing and accessories. All of them are tested in the Front Range and all of them are succeeding.

What is coming for 2011?
-2011 Commuter team
-New and improved lines
-A better store, dammit

2011 COMMUTER TEAM
We are going to have a commuter team this year. And you can be on it. Interested in being treated like a pro, getting sick deals and meeting new people? Well, we have got something fun for you.
-Prodeal on some sweet commuter bikes.
-Hook ups on accessories
-Limited run t-shirts
Meet at the store on December 18th at 4pm. That is a Saturday (because we know you work 9-5 M-F). We will review what you can get and what you need to do to be on our team. Read more details here.

MORE AND LESS
More: We are bringing in Surly as one of our main lines. We love their attitude. We love their bikes. We love their color selections.
More: Demo days and ways to find your perfect trail bike. We are going to offer 3 ways to find the right bike: 1. The Mass Van Demo 2. Ride Along with Salvagetti Demo 3. Pay for 24 hour Demo.
Less: Bad Coffee. We have amazing coffee 7 days a week, if you didn’t know.
Less: Confusion. See below.

WE HEARD WHAT YOU WEREN’T SAYING
We have rearranged the store (again). When you come in, things will be more clear than ever before. That means finding what you need in less time and having fun. Oh yeah, and getting back on your bike even faster.
For those who would like a description, it goes like this… walk in. Directly in front of you is bikes and service center. To your right is clothing, bags and coffee. It all makes sense now.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Please have a safe holiday. We’ll be open on X-mas Eve, but only for a little while. We are closed on X-mas day and on New Year’s Day.
And also, you people are great.

1. We have an important Breakfast Ride on Sunday.
2. 2011 Kona line up looks TOO promising.
3. Workshops that are coming.
4. Mark Your Calendars

Pablo’s Flapjack Breakfast
We are meeting this Sunday at 9am at Salvagetti. We are going to ride (almost straight) over to Pablo’s Coffee at 6th and Washington for a $5 (if you buy a ticket before the day) all-you-care-or-can-eat breakfast. You should come out for this. Yes, you! You might win the bike we are raffling off for the African Community Center. Then again, you may just read more about it here.

2011 Kona Bikes
Joe and Scott were sent to Washington State to check out the 2011 Kona lineup. Both of them were blown away. The bikes are amazing to look at, to ride and we hope for Denver to own! So far, we have already gotten in some Paddy Wagons, Bikes, and some Fire Mountains. If you have any interest in owning a beautiful, functional, staggeringly beautiful bike, we can wholeheartedly recommend these bikes for you.

On a side note, if you want to hear a really scary story, ask Scott or Joe about the terrifying wreck they saw at the Kona Blast. It will disturb you, so ask carefully. You have been warned.

Workshops are Coming
We are starting up with our workshops relatively soon. For those of you who are interested in our ever popular Wheelbuilding Workshop, plan on the middle and end of October to see those fire up. We are looking at some general maintenance classes and (possibly) some suspension rebuild workshops. We would like to keep the classes to things that make you have more fun, not frustrate you. But please let us know if demystifying a chamois or learning about patching a sew up sound like fun.
Send suggestions about things that you NEED/WANT/JUSTGOTTA learn, please email salvagetti@gmail.com.

Mark Your Calendars
There is going to be a race on Halloween Eve. A cyclocross race. A SPOOKY CYCLOCROSS RACE. Mark you calendars right now. Get out your phone, your daytimer, your napkin or your Dukes of Hazzard Day by Day calendar and mark it down. You’ll need a costume, a bike and a big grin. We’ll tell you more later. We promise.

Thanks for listening.
Please be safe. Be happy. Be riding.

Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop moved to our new spot at 1611 Platte St. one year ago in August. That was a fast year, in so many ways. But, the best is yet to come. We have a few quick announcements, then you can get back to riding your bike:

CYCLOCROSS TEAM
We are having our first ever cyclocross team. What is cyclocross? Who should join? What deals do I get? Well… we are having a meeting on August 4th regarding all of these details. Read more about the meeting and team (and cyclocross) here: http://www.salvagetti.com/2010/07/31/happy-coffee-cross-team-meeting/

BIKE PARTY, TOO
We had Bike Party in the Spring and we are following up in a big way. Bicycling Magazine and BikeTown USA are giving away 50 bikes through Salvagetti on Thursday, August 19th starting at 6pm. You want a free bike, well get a free bike RIGHT HERE: http://www.bicycling.com/enter-biketown

So, what are we gonna do to celebrate 50 new and improved cyclists? We are going to party like rock stars. Mark your calendar (August 19th). Bring cash for all the food trucks. Beer and bike stuff will be given away in usual Bike Party fashion: lots of it and quickly. If you didn’t make it to the last party, you will want to make it to this one. If you DID make it to the last one, we’ll just see you there! We will have more about this on the website soon.

SUSPENSION AND TIRE WORKSHOP
On Thursday, we are teaching another round of suspension and tires. So far, we have helped dozens of Front Range riders how to set up suspension bikes properly. You should join the ranks of the knowledgeable. Read more about it here: http://www.salvagetti.com/2010/06/12/suspension-and-tires-for-trail-riders/

SECOND SUNDAY BREAKFAST RIDE
This Sunday, we are Breakfast Riding. We meet at 9am. The list of things to bring include: A bike, a helmet, clothing, cash, an appetite and probably a lock. We’ll ride to a restaurant and eat. It sounds simple, because it is. It is also fun. More info is here: http://www.salvagetti.com/2010/05/05/sunday-morning-breakfast-ride/

Have a great August. We’ll see you very soon.

As for news…

The season is here and we are having a blast. Here is our quick list of fun stuff coming up.

BICYCLE SWAPPY SWAP
Every year, we have a Bicycle Swap. Why? Because people have loads of extra bike stuff in their closets and garages. And this is the best way we know of to get rid of it. Or maybe you have a closet that needs filling. Either way, come out and buy, sell, barter, trade and hustle some sweet new (to you) bike gear. It is on July 10 from 9am until 1ish.
More information here.

RIDE ALONG DEMO
Come try out a bike with us. It is free, but you will want the bike when you are done. That is our plan, anyway. Once you set up a time to demo with us, we will be loading up the van with a bike or three, our gear and YOU. Because the best way to find out about a great bike is to ride a great trail.
Read more about this here.

We are also starting our trail demos. We are starting it all off at the Rooney Road Lot (map) for July 10th and 24th.
Our website will have more details soon. Check it out soon.

SECOND SUNDAY BREAKFAST RIDES
Sunday July 11th is our Breakfast Ride. If you haven’t ever been, you should come along. Meet us at the store at 9am for a nice and easy Sunday stroll.
More details here.

CLOSED FOR JULY 4th
What more can we say, but that we love fireworks and hot dogs.

So, This is Denver… If you have a little time, we’d love to update you on the Salvagetti happenings.

We have several wonderful announcements to pass along to you in rapid succession:
1. We are a Parlee dealer.
2. Our very first Sunday Breakfast ride of 2010 is this Sunday.
3. We turn 6 years old this month.

1. Parlee!
Parlee road bikes are on their way. Parlee is our one and only choice for carbon road bikes. We are proud offer them because they are unequivocally the nicest road bikes we have seen to date.
We will have a size run here and ready to roll soon. Read more about Parlee at their website: http://www.parleecycles.com/

2. Breakfast Ride
This Sunday at 9am, we are gathering at the front of Salvagetti on Platte to ride bikes and eat breakfast. No lycra required. Helmets are a necessity. And this month, some of favorite customers have offered to host the breakfast. The money that they are collecting goes directly to BikeDenver, so bring some cash. This promises to be fun!

3. 6 Year Old Behavior
So, Scott started Salvagetti in April of 2004… in an upstairs (medically zoned) out-of-the-way building. Slowly but surely, with lots of growing pains, Salvagetti now sits in one of the nicest parts of town. We are proud of this accomplishment. But, we aren’t sure what to do for our BIRTHDAY… Party? Ride? Scream? Big Giveaway? Jumpy Castles? We really don’t know. Give some suggestions. Send them to scott@salvagetti.com, pretty please. Or even better, please post them to our FaceBook page.

See you soon with more info on our Apparel 101 class, our On Dirt Demo Saturdays and much much much more. (STICKERS ARE ON THEIR WAY!)

Thank you for your time!

Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop News aka Where did 2009 go?

Our new space is fantastic. We hope you have had a chance to come by and see how it is evolving. We are still working out the kinks to make it feel like our home, so check in regularly to see what is new and different. We are trying our best to make the whole space move Denver in one unified direction: Cycling!

We have been planning for a while and now they are happening:

EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE THESE SPIN CLASSES
We have decided to use our upstairs space to make you a better cyclist, no matter whether you are just learning to love the sport or you are a full on cycle freak. We have invited two great companies to use our upstairs “studio” to teach you how to ride a bike. Since we aren’t charging for use of our space, the prices for the classes are great.

Being on YOUR bike on a trainer is a great way to get all the kinks out of your pedal stroke. Through different techniques and classes, you will get smoother, stronger and better looking. No seriously, you will be more pretty or handsome just by attending our spin class*. By the time spring rolls around, our plan is for you to be faster than all your friends.

*This statement is only partially true, or maybe it is true.

The two groups teaching our spin classes are:
Breathe Spin and Yoga- With Breathe, you will focus on strength and stamina. 45 minutes of spin and 15 minutes of core focused yoga. A perfect workout to make you a happier, smoother and faster person.

More info here.
Sign up here.

JDS Sport Coaching- JDS focuses specifically on technique. It is less of a cardio workout and more of a muscle memory reset. It breaks down to about 30 minutes of technique spinning and 30 minutes of honing your new skills.

More info here.
Sign up here.

HOLIDAY SALES ON BIKES

We have had a phenomenal year. We moved. Our family got bigger (both at Scott’s house and at Salvagetti). And things are looking up.

And with the end of the really long cycling season, we are getting rid of some of leftover bikes. Yup, they are on sale.

And rather than listing them here (on this page)… we listed them here.

Basically, if you are in the market for a great bike, you are gonna save some serious dough.

FLAT CHANGE CLASSES

Starting this week, we are going to demystify the Salvagetti method for changing a flat. If you have had the pleasure of watching our mechanics work, you know how easy they make it look. Often they don’t even have to use a tire lever.

Well, this isn’t magic, but there are some tricks to it. And we would like to share those with you.

The classes are going to be on Thursdays at closing (6pm for now) and Sundays at 11am. You need your bike and an open mind to learn. To check for changes in the schedule before you come down, check out our calendar of classes, rides and events.

We have a few announcements to let everyone know about:

Demo Bikes are on sale.

The prices are great. The deals are amazing. And the bikes are really fun. If you are in the market for a mountain bike, you would be silly not to consider these deals.
More here.

Sunday Morning Cupcake Ride this Sunday.

We are going to The Shoppe on Colfax to have a delicious breakfast. This is a special treat. So special that we are moving the time up to 9 am. NO EXCUSES. Go get your calendar and mark it down. Set your alarm clock and come out for a ride with us on Sunday.
More here (and here.)

Thank you for helping us out.

We have had a huge number of people come by to thank us for moving to our new space. You have no idea how great that is to hear. It is a pretty large task to move a bunch of stuff, but it is even greater of a task to move a living community to a new and different part of town. So thank you for making the effort with us and for helping us grow to be what Denver cyclists need. We have a number of plans that we will be implementing over the next year to further improve Denver’s cycling experience. We will be telling you all about it soon.

Okay. This has to be short. And it has to be good.

1. We are having a bike-in movie on Tuesday. THIS Tuesday the 22nd of September. We apologize for the short notice, but it follows the theme of the short movies. Flyer is here.

2. We are officially a Kona Dealer! Their website is here. Needless to say, we are more than a little bit excited. Look for some of the bikes to be arriving over the next few weeks. Any requests?

3. We bought an espresso machine. And you know what that means. Trouble. But, not for a few months.

4. The cross team is still being put together. Sorry for the delay, but it will be worth it. We want everyone who joins to be super happy, so we are setting things up just right.

In Summary

Everything is going well at the new store. Thank you to everyone who has made us feel so completely welcome to the new neighborhood. If you haven’t been by yet, please come see us!
