Our History
Salvagetti started out as Fix My Bike in 2004. It was in an upstairs retail spot by I-25 and Colorado Blvd. It was about 370 sq. ft. Within just a few months, it became apparent that more space and a better location were necessary. Fix My Bike moved to 11th and Cherokee to a space about 700 sq. ft.The space was in a shotgun rowhouse with 3 rooms and squeeky hardwood floors. Within a year, the shop name of Fix My Bike became to boring and literal, so we changed over to Salvagetti.

Before losing the walls, in got tight.
It was a big success and those 2 walls had to be torn down to make one big space for bikes and product as well as a bigger service area. At first, the extra space was overwhelming. But, with the arrival of Kona bikes, the space became familiarly tight again. The move to a bigger space had to happen when Scott couldn't physically get to the customers coming in if there were more than 4 people in the shop at once. Upon asking a few neighbors, one of them had the idea of moving to the old Muckle building. And there we are now. 1234 Speer Blvd.
As for the namesake of Salvagetti...
Scott purchased a bike for his (now) wife that was beat up and needed an overhaul. He decided to get it painted and to really do it up with nice tape and tires, etc. It came out amazing and soon his brother wanted one. Then a friend in town, etc, etc... These things needed a name. After a long brainstorming with his brother, they came up with Salvagetti, cause everyone wants an Italian road bike, but most of us cannot afford one. Because of the amount of love and labor involved in these bikes, we have had to slow production times to only the winter. More info to follow as it gets colder. |
Why Salvagetti?
Salvagetti is simply the english word salvage with T-T-I added at the end to make it sound Italian. The pronunciation is sal-va-jet-ti. The word literally means a bike shop at 1234 Speer Blvd. in Denver, CO. In German, it means trustworthy. And in Italian, it loosely means best bang for the buck. Say it with me, Salvagetti. Salvagetti. Salvagetti. Good.
What are you doing here?
Salvagetti isn't just another bike shop. We never wanted to be like everyone else. We have created an environment for all cyclists, even if you think you know nothing about bikes. The ego that goes along with other bike shops doesn't come into play at Salvagetti. We don't see a reason to make you uncomfortable. On the contrary, we want you to have fun shopping. So we created a selection of products and services that you can feel confident are great for what Denver and the front range has to offer a cyclist.
