Surly Pacer Racer

We built our own Surly Pacer.
It isn’t really for racing, but riding really fast and winning.
It is a classic steel frame from Surly with all the parts we hoped we could put on it for less than $2000.

Wheels are hand built by us. Nice hubs, nice spokes, nice rims and built right.
SRAM Rival group means familiar and friendly shifting, stopping and gawking.
The Whisky Fork adds a questionable style and look. You won’t question it.

Price, if that is important to you, is $1850. Yup.

    What’s the parts breakdown?

And, I hate to ask, weight?

      Frame: Surly Pacer
      Fork: Whiskey Carbon Rd
It is a full SRAM Rival group.
The cockpit and saddle are always custom.
The wheels are ours: we handbuild Shimano Ultegra hubs up to Mavic Open Pros.

Overall weight on a 56cm is about 18 lbs. Gulp!

Very nice! What size frame is that?

Fantastic build! Given the problems others have reported trying
to affix fenders to the Pacer, have you found any that worked-
without causing sudden onset Tourette syndrome?

Lovely take on the pacer, nice job! Im from the UK and wanted to know if you would ship one to me? and if so how much it would run me in total in £GBP? Thanks

    • Scott T. says:

We aren’t set up to send stuff to the UK. If you have a friend in town who you could pay back, we are happy to sell it to them locally.

Is the front derailleur a braze-on? I’m wrapping up a similar build but am having to shim the FD.
