How to Win a Giant Cruiser
It isn’t free. You have to work to win it
Giant has given us the chance to give you a “free” cruiser for our birthday week. This “free” bike comes at a price. First, we debated whether we should have a melt-ice-cubes-in-your-armpits contest. That didn’t seem all that fair to people who are just naturally cooler than others.
So, next we thought of making people write a research paper about how the bicycle has and will change the world for the better over the next 10 years. But, we would have to read all those papers… and we are kind of lazy.
It was then decided (quite easily) that we want a poem about how you will use your new “free” Giant Cruiser. It should be fun and light, not dark and painful.

Please post your ten line (or less) poem in the comments section of this post. Any bad words will be edited out, so little eyes can read without scarring. Otherwise, give it a shot and see if you win!
The judges are as follows:
Scott, the Owner, will decide whether the poem is satisfactory to being published on the website. (So be patient if you don’t see it immediately).
Then Brian, our Service Manager, will choose the winner.
Your DEADLINE is at 10 am on April 27th. We will announce the winner on the website later on that day!
Daniel James says:
I present my bike Haiku:
Wind kissing the skin
Sun hiding behind mountains
A smile fills my face
Kairi Frame says:
Title: Stephs Birthday.
Get Ready, Salvagetti.
My Wife and that cruiser
are like meatballs and spaghetti
I’m not a hog, I won’t eat the whole meal
i came here to share, so here is the deal…
My Wife needs a bike and i want a surprise (wow)
She loves cruiser bikes so when she opens her eyes,(pow)!!
The Giant Cruiser bike with a ribbon and bow.
I want her to have a nice ride… You know?
sam hostetler says:
wife dreams of cruiser
budget is diminutive
she would cherish it
Doni Visani says:
Clasped to sinuous metal the Giant waits
For budding helmet-heads to harness its might
For jaunt on rising path; Coors to Gates,
Or errands long-postponed; a patient’s plight.
Five of Seven, unique in style and provenance
Newly joined to hive of like-minded wheels
Waiting for shy beginner or, perhaps, Lance
To go where no one goes or wherever one feels
Free staff benefit, surely. But more so than that:
To make a mere step a journey, ‘tis the Giant’s task.
Linette Bennett says:
With the golden sun on my neck, and light wind in my hair,
on the Giant cruizer with it’s stylish and urban flair.
I would cruise around the busy neighborhood as free as could be,
running crazy errands and going wherever the wind takes me.
It wouldn’t stay perfect, it’s not for show,
it would take me cruising, wherever I wanted to go.
This bicycle has character and class,
It could take me to all my favorite spots, without the cost of gas.
Learning everything I can about repair,
because a broken bike I could not bear.
Steve Shiramizu says:
“Where, oh where”
Who is that who rides the pony?
Tis Steve and his trusty sidekick Joey Ramone.
Where, oh where could Steve be off to?
No one knows as he just took off and didn’t leave a forwarding address.
Push, push, round and round his little feet go.
Dogs bark, cats meow and lions roar.
Where in the hell did that Steve go?
Whoosh, woosh windbreaker amplifier.
Trees look and stare at the magic magnet maker.
Did he pay his bill?
Steven McBride says:
Shimmering Summer Sunlight glinting off the spokes,
riding with friends,
Happiness ensues on my new Giant cruiser.
Wonderful whirling wind blowing through my hair,
smiling because I can,
Fun begins on my new Giant cruiser
Lovely laughing ladies filling the avenue,
waiving as I pass by,
Love uncovered on my new Giant cruiser.
Maybe you can join me, on my new Giant cruiser.
Craig Horton says:
Simplicity is very nice
and a single speed will suffice
When riding with my son
because it’s eaiser to ride than run
Giant makes a great bike
in many styles that riders like
So, Salvagetti Happy Birthday
Hope you had plenty of cake on Monday
Jonathan Horton says:
Title – Giant Racer
So fast and so wild
Giant Racer
So big, so neat
Giant Racer
So many people want to buy
Why do so many just drive
A bike is what they need
so turn around and get it.
Kristin Fleischmann says:
Sky blue baby love
Dale’s Pale Ale in her basket
Spinning through the shade
Barbara Perzanowski says:
*-Never Looked So-*
Climb aboard my Giant.
Two-wheel passion.
Glance left, look right. Commit intently to our futures.
Confident, comfortable smile.
Knowledge of urban green.
White concrete never felt so good.
I never looked so damn rad.
Rebecca says:
Slobber hits blue paint
Rolling fast down hot pavement
The bike, not the drool
Jill Gassen says:
With the blue Giant cruiser I will be so free
I’ll ride around just being me
The kids at DU will want one of their own
Have to get their daddy on the phone
At Wash Park will ride past the jocks
They’ll all tell me my bicycle rocks
I’ll be the happiest person on my bike
You can come with me if you like
Bill Teal says:
(This would be Wisconsin)
The cows lazily grind grass into cheese,
And the calm morning air grows into a breeze.
The road curves around backwater, farm and town.
The smells are fresh and the sun beats down.
The irresistible river appears to be still
And the tugboats are pushing their grain to the mill.
We hope that our memories will last and last.
As we on our cruisers go racing past.
William says:
Salvagetti bikes,
gives up a Giant cruiser,
riding a daydream.
Rachel says:
While cruising
(in my car)
by the Salvagetti Store
urban landscapes
(slower than Speer)
filled my mind.
And I, on a giant cruiser,
(flowers in the basket)
dreamed happiness,
for just one minute.
Cory Chambers says:
OOOH, He’s a handsome man, with
that fat seat and flashy white blazes
and you know what they say about big pedals…
Big Tires.
He could be the man for me.
If I can woo him with these words,
our romance will beam like arc lightning
down sunlit Denver streets as we ride
like one body, two eyes, two wheels
a thousand miles alive together.
Jennifer P says:
Riding my new Giant cruiser from Salvagetti
I no longer need my car to shop for spaghetti
Losing weight and getting in shape
No longer trapped in my cage like a commuting ape
Riding with my kids to get ice cream
The longer the ride, the better the dream
Steve says:
As race leader and bike fly in the air
and come to a stop on his derriere
What does he see
A shining new Giant under the tree
So upon it he sits and it is a perfect fit
Remebering how bicycling should be
Just taking your time to enjoy the scenery
As he pedaled out of town in glee
This is the last we see of the yellow jersey
And on the back is drawn a big smiley
Stacy Hay says:
This is my Acrostic poem:
BICYCLE LOVE
Banana seat memories
Illuminates throughout
Calm cool & collected
Yearning to ride
Care free
Leaning on handlebars
Environmentally wise
Latitude
Outside
Velocity
Extreme
Billie Blue Hay says:
Billie Blue’s Haiku:
BIKER
Biked five miles today
and seven miles yesterday.
Five more tomorrow.
Chris Hay says:
Chariot of Tires
Balloon tires rolling on the pavement.
A floating chariot powered by my chi.
“Make way, the King is here!”
Bring home the Groceries.
Rachel H says:
When I feel like playin’ hard
I roll on down to Spear Boulevard
And hit my favorite spot for deals
To grab a sweet new set of wheels
Not a Porche or a Rolls Royce
It’s Giant who makes my ride of choice
A cruiser is what I’m all about
With any luck Salvagetti’s will pimp me out!
Linda H says:
Ode to ‘bike shop in Denver that is sweet’
I love bikes.
I will ride ‘Blue Giant’ every day.
Peace.
Eric says:
pedal, pedal, pedal, pedal, pedal
pedal, turn, pedal, pedal, pedal
coast, coast, backwards pedal, coast
pedal, pedal, coast, coast, pedal
turn, pedal, coast, coast, coast.
Molly says:
Sunday Morning
Grips feel like home, finally in the seat I love most
Muscles burning, cycling, cold teeth, hot breath
Hold on…breathe…pump…breathe…pump
Gear shift down, here comes an incline
Strain! Burn! Feel it! The altitude pressing onward, upward
Pine trees breathing for me
Misty cool air, blue skies breaking through
Squeeze and sip this water, freshen my soul
Wheels turning nature into a movie
Oh riding in the morning, it doesn’t get better than this.
bill says:
who eva put dat pronunciate stuff yall is goin nuts ya herd
Taylor M says:
tried to rock the cruiser ride
but my bmx hurt my bum,
so bummed tears i cried
tried to rock the cruiser ride
but my dad’s mountain bike so not me
that a part of me died
tried to rock the cruiser ride
but apparently no skates allowed
they asked “what, are you the piper gone pied?”
tried to rock the cruiser ride
and I DID,
thanks to my new, blue, source of pride
thanks for the cruiser, now i know no more bruisers…
